Faculty of Behavioral Sciences (FBS) organized a one day workshop on “Personality Assessment: Application of Rorschach Test” on 29th February, 2016 at Conference Hall in Medical Building. The invited speaker was Dr. Mudassir Hassan, Clinical Psychologist from Government Medical College, Srinagar, J&K. He has received many awards including Tara Naidu Award from Psychiatric Association and has rich experience in research, teaching and practice as Clinical Psychologist.
Personality assessment is one of the dominant area of psychology. Rorschach Inkblot Test is considered as one of the important projective test of personality and is widely used by clinical psychologists in outpatient mental health settings. The workshop was therefore conducted to provide learning to students regarding the administration, scoring and interpretation of the test. The workshop was also aimed to fulfill the need of faculty development in assessment and testing.
The speaker gave a very precise and comprehensive overview and critical issues of administration and scoring about the Rorschach Inkblot Test. He guided students in groups for hands-on training in scoring and interpretation of the test results. His time and dedication helped undergraduate and post-graduate students to learn about the test at this early stage of their academic career which will help them to prepare themselves as a clinical psychologist. This workshop helped students to get training in assessment other than their regular curricular studies.
The workshop was attended by 32 students of the department of Clinical Psychology, including the Dean, Dr. Waheeda Khan, and the faculties. Students expressed their enthusiasm by thanking Dr. Mudassir and wanted him to visit again for more learning interactions. They expressed the need for more expert training by experienced clinical psychologists like Dr. Mudassir. They learned many new things and got familiar with one of the most important tests in clinical psychology. This was one of the first workshop organized by the Faculty to provide an expert guidance to strengthen the understanding of the curriculum.
