Prof. Dr. S.K. SHARMA

Dr. S.K. Sharma joined SGT University as Principal, SGT College of Pharmacy on 1st Aug 2015. Prior to his present assignment he was working as Director, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Pharmacy New Delhi, affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU).

Dr. Sharma has vast Teaching, Research and Administrative experience of more than 30 years. He has served R&D Division of Ranbaxy Labs Ltd. as research associate, Hindu College of Pharmacy as Lecturer & Sr. Lecturer and Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Pharmacy as Reader, Professor, HOD and Director prior to this assignment.

Dr. Sharma takes active part in professional activities and is a life member of Professional Associations like IPA, IPGA, IHPA, IABMS etc.

Dr. S.K. Sharma passed Higher Secondary from CBSE Delhi, D.Pharmacy & B.Pharmacy from College of Pharmacy (DIPSAR) University of Delhi, M.Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) from Panjab University, Chandigarh & Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Devi Ahilya University Indore. He also has done Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing & Sales Management from Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi.

Research & Publications:

Research interests of Dr. Sharma include Drug Design, QSAR & Synthesis & Biological evaluation of Nanoparticles used in targetted Drug Delivery Systems. He is approved co-supervisor of Ph.D scholars at department of Chemistry, University of Delhi. He has published Research papers and review articles in National and International peer reviewed journals. He has validated a chapter on ‘’Thermodynamics’’ for National Science Digital Library (NSDL), CSIR. He was invited as Co-Chairman and resource person (Poster Evaluator) in Scientific session on Pharmaceutical analysis and quality assurance ‘’ during 60th Indian Pharmaceutical Conference 2008 & as judge for evaluation of posters in the International Conference on recent advances in Cardio Vascular Sciences-Transitional Medicine (RACS-S & TM 2012) organized by Amity University, NOIDA. He has delivered Guest Lectures on various topics related to Modern Analytical Techniques at school of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal (MP). He had been member task force committee of Central Council for Research in Homeopathy (CCRH) for standardization of drugs.


Dr. Sharma had been member of Board of Studies (BOS) MDU Rohtak, Special Invitee member of BOS of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, Member of governing body of Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Pharmacy (MSIP), Editorial Chairman of MSIP magazine ‘’Spectrum’’ & News Letter ‘’Pharmaroma’’; Member Selection Committees and Central Purchase, Finance, Construction Committees of Surajmal Memorial Education society (SMES). He has performed the duties of observer in W.H.O sponsored pulse polio Immunization Programme and of presiding officer and returning officer in Haryana panchayat elections. He had been the convener of joint annual sports meet of MSIP, MSI and MSIT every year w.e.f 2003 to 2015. He had been the captain of COP (Delhi) volley ball team for consecutive five years and won best volley ball player award of Deptt. Of Pharm sciences, Punjab University Chandigarh for consecutive two years. Dr. Sharma won 3rd prize in zonal science fair, Delhi for making science project.

He had been the convener of one day seminar on ‘’Global Scenario in Pharmaceutical Sciences’’ organized by MSIP on 20.04.2006; Seminar on ‘’ Clinical Research, a New Career Avenue’’ organized jointly by Indian pharmaceutical association (IPA) and MSIP Delhi on 17.11.2008; 47th National Pharmacy Week celebration programme organized jointly by Delhi pharmacy council (DPL) & MSIP on 17.11.2008 on the theme “Know your Pharmacist for safe use of Prescription Medicines”; Co-convener of GGSIPU sponsored national seminar on “Herbal Drug Development-Trends & Future Prospects” organized by MSIP on 21.11.2008; Convener of CSIR sponsored national seminar on “IPR in pharmacy: patent drafting and filing” organized by MSIP on 16.02.2013; Convener of 52nd NPW celebration programmes jointly organized by IPA (Delhi branch) and MSIP w.e.f 17th to 23rd Nov 2013; Co-chairman (Co-Ordination Committee) of annual conference of Indian Pharmacy Graduate Association (IPGA); Co-ordinator of AICTE sponsored seminar on “Recent Advances in Pharmaceutical Sciences” organized by MSIP w.e.f 7th to 9th Aug 2008; Co-ordinator of AICTE sponsored staff development programme on “Pharmacy in new millennium -opportunities and challenges’’ organized by MSIP w.e.f 20.07.2009 to 31.07.2009; Chairman (Accommodation Committee) in Indian pharma convention organized by Udyog Development Foundation on theme “Challenges in Pharma Sector in India” on 12.02.2012; Organizer of orientation programme workshop of registered pharmacists and 51st NPW celebration programmes jointly organized by DPC & MSIP on 29.11.2012; Organizer of 52nd NPW celebration programme jointly organized by DPC & MSIP on 22.11.2013; Co-Chairman (Transport Committee) at 65th IPC 2013 held at Amity University NOIDA on 20th to 22nd Dec 2013; Coordinator of one day seminar on “Recent Trends & Avenues in Pharma, Health & Clinical Research” organized by MSIP on 31.03.2014; Organized seminar on “An Excursion into Chiral Sciences, Chiral HPLC Analysis & Chiral Switch Strategy” on 13.03.2010 at MSIP, New Delhi; Organized lecture on ‘’Career options for Pharmacy Students, Opportunities & Challenges’’ at MSIP, on 22.01.2015.
