Faculty of Physical Sciences of SGT University organized an orientation program for its first year students on September 14, 2015. The program was graced by the presence of some eminent personalities of India. The program started with lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by the welcome address by Respected Dr. T.D. Dogra, Vice Chancellor. The occasion was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. SushilcAuluck (ex-professor IIT-Roorkee& IIT Kanpur) who is a pioneer in the field of Physical Sciences. Even stepping onto his sixties, he is still working as visiting professor at National Physical Laboratory and IITD, New Delhi. His inspirational speech was very motivating for all the students as well as faculty members. He emphasized on the dedication and perseverance to be very important qualities of a person that drives a person towards the pinnacle of success. His perception is “If you have commitment towards your work success will follow you and you do not have to run behind the success.”The program was also graced by the presence of Ms. Soumya Kotha, Sr. HR manager, Synergy Environomics. She imbibed the students and faculties with her knowledge about radiation generated by current electronic devices amongst which most commonly and popularly used one are mobile phones. She explicitly explained the radiation caused by the mobile phones and its harmful effects on mankind. She also enriched us with a repertoire of information regarding the cutting edge scientific technology especially the microchip technology that can prevent the harmful effects of radiation caused in today’s era of electronic communication. Ms Kotha addressed in her speech that “one should have a definite aim in life and remain focused to achieve that aim”. Ms Soumya’s speech was followed by revolutionary speech by Dr. Sanjay Yadav, General Secretary, Metrology Society of India. He implanted the seeds of quest for knowledge and strong desire to succeed in life. He also discussed the various avenues for science graduates to build up ones career in scientific and allied fields. Further, Dr. K.P. Chawdhury, Chief Scientist and Head Chairman ISTAG from National Physical Laboratory was also present in the programme as guest of honor. His motivational speech, guidance regarding various career paths was truly appreciated by all the students and faculty members. Last but one speech was given by respected pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Dalip Singh who addressed the programme with his speech of intellect and challenges faced in ones journey on the roadmap to success. He also encouraged all the faculties and students with live examples to overcome the hurdles and reach the milestone of achievements. Finally, Dr. Dharmbir Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, concluded the program by giving vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, faculty members, staffs and students who selflessly devoted their endless efforts to make the programme a grand success. Followed by his speech, there was an interactive session with the students, dignitaries and the faculty members of the SGT University. This was further followed by High Tea interactions where students got ample of opportunities to interact with the dignitaries. This was so helpful to the students and faculty members that they further wanted to proceed with their questioniers. So there was another interactive session after the High Tea interactions. All the questioniers were very well-answered by the honorable guests. Guest of honor Dr. Sanjay Yadav was kind enough to invite SGT students to visit all the departments at National Physical Laboratories. He also provided a great deal of information regarding various National CSIR Laboratories. Overall the programme ended up with grand success and turned out to be very beneficial to the students and faculty members of the Faculty of Physical Sciences.
