Dr. Madan Mohan Chaturvedi
Dr. Madan Mohan Chaturvedi was a Senior Professor at University of Delhi. He is presently a Distinguished Visiting Professor at School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu, and Advisor at the SGT University, Gurugram (Haryana). He taught Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Banaras Hindu University and University of Delhi over more than 35 years. His research interest are: (i) Chromatin Remodelling and regulation of gene expression, (ii) Inflammation and Cancer, and (iii) Epigenetic regulation of liver regeneration.
Professor Chaturvedi has done his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University. Later, he did his post-doctoral research, at Molecular Biology Laboratory, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), University of Zurich, Switzerland. He was a Visiting Scientist and subsequently served as a Visiting Professor at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, University of Texas, Houston, USA. He has widely travelled for his academic pursuits and also as part of academic delegations of Government of India and University of Delhi to Institutions in USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, UK, Japan, Israel, Italy, Chile, Taiwan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Jordan and Palestine, etc.
He has participated in around 100 National and International conferences and chaired many scientific sessions and given invited lectures at International and National Conferences and Symposia. He has published more than 80 papers in peer-reviewed journals of high impact factor, and citation index of the papers published is over 13,200, and the H-index is 38 and I-index 54.
He is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences (FNASc), Allahabad. He was awarded Young Scientists Medal of Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi, Diamond Jubilee Fellowship of the National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad. He has received Swiss National Science Foundation (NSF) Fellowship for his post-doctoral studies, also recipient of Asian Molecular Biology Organization (AMBO) Fellowship, Japan, Clayton Foundation Visiting Scientist Fellowship, USA . He is also a recipient of BHU Gold Medal, AB Mishra Prize, RK Reddy Award, BHU, Tilak Award of Association of Gerontology (India).
Prof. Chaturvedi is the President of Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences. He has served as elected Vice‐President of Indian Society of Cell Biology, Vice‐President, Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences, Secretary of Association of Gerontology, India, Convener, Society of Biological Chemist (India) Varanasi Chapter, Council Member of Indian Society of Cell Biology. In addition of this, he has played active role as member in various academic & administrative committees of Government of India, in CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (BioCare & Indo-Australia Prog, DBT National RA), MoEF&CC, CCSEA, Min of Animal Husbandry Dairying & Fisheries, etc. He is currently an external member to Academic Council of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi., and an Adjunct Professor at Trans Stadia University, Ahmedabad.
He has served as member of Academic Council, JNU, New Delhi; member of School Board of Life Sciences, Univ. of Hyderabad, Member of School Board of NEHU, Shillong, Meghalaya, members of Board of Governors, and Board of Management of GSFC Univ, Vadodara, Gujarat, Chancellor nominee to the University Court at Cluster University, Jammu. He has served as Chairman of the Governing Bodies of many Colleges and Gandhi Bhawan of University of Delhi. He also has served as Chairman and member-coordinator of Peer Team member of NAAC visits to many colleges and Universities. He has also been member of SAC -ICMR-NARF, Hyderabad, served as Chairman of Progress Monitoring Committee of CSIR Integrated Skill Development Initiative-Phase-II. He has been members of board of studies at several universities, such as Banaras Hindu University, North Eastern Hill University, Allahabad University, Hari Singh Gaur University, Sagar, Dayalbagh Education Institute, Agra, and was the Principal Advisor (Life Sciences Research) at Indrashil University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Prof Chaturvedi had held many administrative positions at University of Delhi also, such as, Head of the Department of Zoology, Director, Cluster Innovation Centre, and Dean (Research - Life Sciences), Director, Institute of Lifelong Learning, and Director, CPDHE (Academic Staff College), and Director, Centre for Science Education and Communication at University of Delhi. He is Life member of Society of Biological Chemists (India), Association of Gerontology (India), Indian Society of Cell Biology, Indian Science Congress Association, Indian Immunology Society, Indian Society of Developmental Biologists, and Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences.
