I am a plant biotechnologist with a specialization in molecular breeding. My professional journey has involved roughly 25 years in industry and academia, mostly the seed industry, both in India and abroad. The organizations wherein I worked and trained include Bayer CropScience (India), Nunhems Zaden (Netherlands), International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT, India), Krishidhan Seeds, Green World Genetics Sdn Bhd (Malaysia), John Innes Centre (U.K.), University of Reading (U.K.) and University of Nottingham (U.K., Malaysia Campus), I have also been a scientist-turned-entrepreneur for some time, whereby, I was involved in training industrial staff and university students for the industrial applications of plant biotechnology from many of the reputed private and public sector organizations. I have expertise in a broad range of biotechnological tools, including genetics, genomics, molecular biology and cell biology. Molecular marker technologies, heterosis breeding, diversity analysis, genetic mapping, marker-assisted-selection and DNA barcoding are some of the areas of my special interest, all directed towards the theme crop improvement.
