CDE on “Microscope Enhanced Dentistry- enhanced vision for enhanced success” on 18th & 19th January 2019

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Faculty of Dental Sciences organised a two day long CDE program on “Microscope Enhanced Dentistry- enhanced vision for enhanced success” held at Auditorium, A-block on 18th & 19th January 2019. Prof. Dr. Sanjay Tiwari (Principal, PGIDS Rohtak) was the Guest of honor & Dr Sarita Kohli (Dean, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Jamia Milia Islamia) was the Chief guest. It is worth mentioning the praise and appreciation Dr. Sanjay Tiwari showed towards the university calling the university one of it’s kind for being able to successfully install five dental operating microscopes (DOM) in the clinics and two tabletop DOM. The CDE program featured a galaxy of speakers which included eminent speakers and practitioners like Dr. P. D. Joshi, Dr. Shail Jaggi, Brig. Dr. Subrata Roy, Dr. Prasad K Musale & Dr. Leena Rawal. On day 1, Dr. P. D. Joshi talked about the use of dental operating microscopes in Endodontics & Dr.Shail threw light on microscopic restorative dentistry. The second day included lectures on microsurgery and use of magnification in surgical periodontics by Brig Dr. Subrato Roy, followed by a lecture on post endodontic restorations by Dr. Leena. The final lecture showcased the use of magnification in pediatric dentistry by Dr. Prasad K Musale. The program was attended by more than 150 delegates including private practitioners and post graduate students. It was a scientifically enriching program where the speakers shared their knowledge and experiences.

Guest Lecture on “Obstructive Sleep Apnea And Its Treatment Options” on 16th October 2018

A Guest Lecture was organized by Dept. of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics on “OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA AND ITS TREATMENT OPTIONS” by DR. FARHAN SHAH, BDS, MDS, PHD sleep apnea, UMEA University, Sweden on 16TH October 2018. He very well explained the types of sleep apnea and the appliances used to treat the same. He also explained the importance of the treatment which otherwise not treated is life threatening. We are proud to announce that DR. FARHAN SHAH has joined as an ADJUNCT PROFESSOR, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT university, addition of new member to the SGT family.

CDE programme on “Let’s Shape The Canals- The TCA Way” held on 1st October 2018.

The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University had organized a CDE programme on “Let’s Shape The Canals- The TCA Way” on 1st October 2018. It was great to hear about the tips and tricks of root canal treatment from a renowned speaker Dr. Anil Dhingra. He enlightened the students with his great knowledge and experience focusing on the shift in concept of root canal instrumentation from hand to rotary, use of apex locators, management of curved canals with the new TCA- concept.

Lecture With Demonstration On “Clinical Tips: Impression Techniques And Temporization” on 10th May 2018

Helping us take one step further into the holistic management of restoring teeth, striving towards all rounded dentistry, with patient centric techniques and materials was Dr. Priyanka Sikka who graciously joined us from the reputed 3M ESPE; shared her experience and insights on advanced impression materials and techniques, temporization, and cementation protocol, in turn taught the students, the importance of each step in providing the best possible patient care, amalgamated with precision and comfort.

CDE on "Shaping protocol with newer NiTi instruments" on 2nd April 2018

Touching new horizons in contemporary endodontics with the coveted speaker and mentor Dr. P. D. Joshi, a pioneer in Microscopic Centric Dentistry, at the Continuing Dental Education Programme "Shaping protocol with newer NiTi instruments", understanding learning and discovering the complicated canal pathways with the help of newer Niti instruments, followed by a live demo under the operating dental microscope where his unmatched experience spoke for itself. The day was concluded with a Hands-on session with Protaper gold kit, for the contestants to learn with and keep!

CDE - Program December 2017

Dept. of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics had organized a lecture session on “Cention-N: A new alternative to amalgam” on 5th Dec 2017, followed by live demo and hands-on by Dr. Phillip Schneider from Switzerland, who spoke about the novel filling material- Cention-N, as an alternative to amalgam fillings.

Dept. of Conservative Dentistry and Dentistry had organized a CDE on “Endodontic Treatment Outcomes” on 4th April 2017 and the guest speaker was Dr. Ibrahim Abu Tahun, D.D.S., Ph.D Endodontics, University of Jordan.

INNOVATION: because without innovation we cannot advance – LECTURE AND HANDS ON PROGRAMME by DR. PRIYANKA JAIN SIKKA-19th April 2016

Modern day composites is the most versatile and frequently used dental material owing to its adhesive and esthetic property, however mastering its art requires both knowledge and dexterity, and is an indispensible skill set, it was day of both learning and innovation delivered to us by Dr. Priyanka Jain Sikka through her interactive lecture on INNOVATION: BECAUSE WITHOUT INNOVATION WE CANNOT ADVANCE, followed by step by step live demonstration on Class II composites placements and occlusal stamping in posterior restorations; attended by both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

It was day of learning, it was day of inculcating, it was day of imbibing and it was a day of fulfilment;
It was the day of the Continuing Dental Education program, organized by the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University, Gurgaon on “Esthetic Enhancement with Composites”; under the guidance of Dean, Dr.Akshay Bhargav, the organizing prowess of the Head of the Department, Dr. Ritu Sharma along with joint efforts of the able staff and post graduate students of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.

This day basked under the esteemed presence of Dr. Arundeep Singh, Prinicipal, Manav Rachna Dental College, Faridabad as the chief guest, his humble presence and encouraging words infused the students with enthusiasm and heightened their will to learn and innovate. This day was further blessed by the presence of Vice Chancellor, Dr, T.D. Dogra, Ex-Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, whose august presence and encouraging address to the audience invigorated their minds with belief and dreams towards a promising future; with Dean Dr. Akshay Bhargav and Director, PG Studies, DR. M.S Siddhu encouraging the students to learn, innovate and achieve, it was indeed a very uplifting session. Our Guest speaker, the very renowned Dr. Deepak Mehta, professor, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, V.S. Dental College, Bangalore, who is not only a revered endodontist but a celebrated esthetic dentist, delivered an impeccable lecture which aimed at both basics as well as the advancements in the field of esthetic enhancement with composites; Dealing with contemporary stop gaps with shade selection, case selection, placement of composites and making patients’ expectation a reality. The lecture was well substantiated with real life case scenarios, pictorially presented along with clinical tips and tricks to avoid and solve problems.

The lecture was followed by a hands on session, on the ‘Esthetic Closure of Diastema’ that translated the theory into practice; where the delegates witnessed Dr. Mehtas’ esthetic dexterity, judicious use of materials and correct manipulation of instruments. The delegates later on practiced on models and learned this art of perfection under his able guidance, explored the use of different instruments and technologically advanced dental materials supplied by Dentsply TM.

It was an intellectually advancing and fundamentally enhancing experience which gave the delegates a set of futuristic knowledge, skill and esthetic perfection, and hence the day ended on a very content note, with basics strong and vision enhanced.

The efforts of the scientific committee headed by Dr.Vikram Sharma and Dr. Jyoti Sachdeva organized and implemented the event flawlessly, reception and hospitality was impeccable and warm, possible through the consolidated efforts of Dr, Mamta Singla and Dr. Gaurav Setya, the registration was were timely and well organized through disciplined efforts of Dr. Anshul Arora, the day saw astute implementation and a grand success through continuous and consolidated efforts by the organizing secretaries Dr Ashtha Arya and Dr. Sai Ganapathy.

It was indeed a display of enlightened vision and teamwork towards the era of esthetic dentistry which truly motivated the students and other participation members alike, and left them envisioned towards futuristic dental practices.
