To Prepare New Formulation - Ashoka Arka (Tincture of Saraca Ashoka) Using Distillation Method

Abstract:

This blog talks about a project presented by Ayurveda Students of SGT University at its Synergy Tech-fest/ 2024. It showcases TO PREPARE NEW FORMULATION- ASHOKA ARKA (tincture of saraca ashoka ) USING DISTILLATION METHOD.

Adolescent Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (ADUB) is a common gynecological disorder affecting young girls, characterized by irregular, heavy, or prolonged menstrual bleeding. This condition can significantly impact a teenager’s quality of life, causing physical, emotional, and social distress. While conventional treatments often focus on hormonal therapies, ancient Ayurvedic wisdom offers a natural and effective solution: Ashoka (Saraca ashoka). In this blog, we’ll delve into the remarkable properties of Ashoka and its benefits in managing adolescent Dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

Ideation:

Ashoka, also known as the “Sorrowless Tree,” is a revered herb in Ayurvedic treatment. Its bark, leaves, and flowers have been used for centuries to treat various health issues, particularly gynecological disorders.It is a herbal remedy . Ashoka has various properties :-

• UTERINE TONIC
• HORMONE BALANCER
• ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
• ANALGESIC
• ANTIOXIDANT
• CARDIOPROTECTIVE
• ANTIPYRETIC

As compared to aasav and arishta kalpana, it can be more suitable form for patient because:

• It will be free from self-generated alcohol and its characters.
• Arka Kalpana takes less time in preparation.
• Ashoka Arka will have higher pH as compared to arishta Kalpana of Ashoka, which makes it less acidic in nature.

Procedure:

• Properly cleaned and washed ashoka valkal is converted into yavkut form.
• It is then soaked in 10parts of water and soaked overnight .
• Content is then placed in distillation appartus and is allowed for the process and arka is then placed in a cleaned vessel .

Experience of Synergy:

It was an amazing experience working in synergy projects with our teammates and our PI and Co- PI’s. We shared thoughts, solved problems, and created something better together. Working together made tasks easier and more fun. It was a powerful experience that showed me the magic of teamwork .

Conclusion:

Ashoka offers a natural, effective, and safe solution for women’s health suffering from Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding. By harnessing its remarkable properties, young women can alleviate symptoms, regulate their menstrual cycle, and improve their overall well-being.
