Dr Astha Chaudhry, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology has professional academic experience of more than 11 years and clinical experience as consultant oral and maxillofacial radiologist for one and half years. She pursued her BDS from Manipal University and MDS from RGUHS, Karnataka and has completed her PG Diploma in Bioethics from International Chair in Bioethics at University of Haifa. She is the recipient of University GOLD MEDAL for securing highest marks in MDS Oral Medicine & Radiology in RGUHS, Karnataka and Dr. TMA Pai Gold medal award for the BEST OUTGOING BDS STUDENT for the year 2006-2007. She is the Convenor of Centre of Excellence for Andragogical and Pedagogical Sciences (CEAPS) of SGT University and is also Secretary of UNESCO-Bioethics Unit of SGT University. She has professional experience in the field of rankings and accreditations including QS I Gauge, NIRF, NAAC, India Today, Mental Health and Well being ranking for the entire University. She is also the chairperson for the Committee for Quality Endorsement and Accreditation for Faculty of Dental Sciences and is the NIRF and India Today coordinator for faculty. She has many national and international publications to her credit and her keen interest areas include diagnosis of potentially malignant disorders and diagnostic radiology utilizing all imaging modalities particularly CBCT. Apart from Oral Medicine, she is also actively involved in the field of education in terms of promoting and implementing student centric teaching methodologies, curriculum planning & implementation and examination & assessment techniques. She has also obtained training in the e-content development and currently working on designing an online course in Bioethics. She has also served as the resource person in multiple faculty development programs organized by IQAC and CEAPS for teaching technologies, examination & assessment techniques. She has received multiple awards including the Young Educationist Award 2022,“Most proactive Junior Academician of the Year” by Guident Academy in 2021, “Dr Pushpanjali Mohapatra award and Gold medal for young scientist” in the year 2019 and excellence award for the “Most active member of UNESCO Bioethics Unit”of SGT University in 2018.
