About Our Director

Dean of Research

Dr. Shalini Kapoor, an accomplished academic leader and dental professional, serves as the Director of the Research & Development Cell at SGT University. With over 15 years of distinguished service in academic administration, research management, and innovation governance, Dr. Kapoor has been pivotal in steering the University’s research ecosystem toward national and international prominence.
At the helm of the Research & Development Cell, Dr. Kapoor oversees research governance across 18 constituent faculties. Under her stewardship, the University’s research profile has witnessed remarkable growth, with year-on-year increases in publications, patents, and substantial progress in extramural grant mobilization.
Her strategic initiatives have led to the establishment of research infrastructure, including a Central Scientific Instrumentation Facility and Medical Cobotics Centre. Dr. Kapoor continues to cultivate an ecosystem where innovation thrives, policy reforms are data-driven, and research impact is measurable and sustainable.

Research & Development Cell (UGC-RDC)

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 envisages the promotion of quality research within the Higher Education system. Research and innovation are important aspects to enhance quality education by the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Societal challenges of our country can only be addressed by having a strong and vibrant higher education ecosystem with an emphasis on research, innovation, and technology development. The integration of Research, Innovation and Technology Development is the foundation of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India). The establishment of Research and Development Cell (RDC) in HEIs will enable attainment of targets of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat and is expected to play a pivotal role in catalyzing multidisciplinary/ transdisciplinary and translational research culture mandated in NEP 2020.

The Research Advisory Committee meeting, conducted by the R&D Cell at SGT University, reviewed and approved research-related matters.

MoM of Intramural Committee Meeting - 13 - 14 June 2024

The Intramural Committee meeting reviewed 69 research proposals, recommended 26 projects with a total budget of ₹6,59,000, and approved the guidelines for IMRG project submissions.

The UDB meeting proposed enhancements to consultancy policies, faculty-student research engagement, extramural funding coordination, and discussed establishing the SGT Advanced Research and Innovation Centre (SGT-ARIC).

The RPPDC meeting was conducted by the R&D Council, SGT University, to discuss and record minutes for approval regarding research program policy development.

MoM of Incentive Committee Meeting - 15.02.2024

The meeting reviewed publication verification processes and clarified that incentives will be granted only for research works already published, with optional acceptance letter verification from the next quarter.

MoM of Incentive Committee Meeting - 03.03.2025

The meeting reviewed and decided on the release of incentives for research publications and book chapters, addressing issues related to author details, journal status, publication verification, and conference-based chapters.

The meeting reviewed and approved incentives for publications, patents, extramural projects, and course fees, addressed submission and documentation issues, and recommended quarterly processing of incentive applications.

The meeting reviewed 18 research proposals, approved six projects with a total budget of ₹2,95,480, and finalized guidelines for IMRG project submissions, with higher-budget projects referred to the Vice-Chancellor for approval.
