Sport Competition in the Village Sakatpur, Gurugram, under SVSP, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, CED & MED, SOET, SGTU
The objective of organizing the Sports Competition under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) initiative was to promote holistic development among rural school children by emphasizing the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition.
The event aimed to engage students of Government Middle School, Sakatpur in various sports activities that foster physical endurance, discipline, and social interaction. Through this initiative, the UBA teams of SGT University sought to create awareness about the significance of sports in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and in building essential life skills such as leadership, cooperation, and time management. The competition was designed not merely as a recreational activity, but as a learning platform that helps children understand the values of sportsmanship, fair play, and perseverance.
Moreover, the event aimed to strengthen the bond between the university and the adopted village community by encouraging youth participation and nurturing local talent. It also aligned with the broader goals of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan — to connect higher education institutions with rural India and contribute towards the social and cultural upliftment of the villages through educational, health, and community-based interventions. In essence, the Sports Competition Event was intended to:
- Inspire students to adopt sports as an integral part of their daily routine for physical and mental well-being.
- Promote team spirit, discipline, and mutual respect among participants.
- Identify and encourage young sports talent in rural areas.
- Enhance community engagement and university–village collaboration under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan framework.
- Foster an environment of inclusivity, motivation, and joy through active participation and recognition.
