SGT University Celebrates India’s Plurality with Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat 2025
“Unity in Diversity” is a statement that goes to the very heart of Indian identity. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh, every state, faith, and tribe has its own practices and customs, which have all found their collective homes in this one great nation. SGT University, Haryana, which has students from all over the country, always wants to celebrate the brotherhood and togetherness that are fostered from this diversity.
In this spirit, the university annually hosts “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” a toast to celebrate India and its multiculturalism. Students of the university get one massive platform to represent their states' legacy and heritage, through uniquely thought-out competitions. The fest is designed and managed by students themselves, which builds close relations among students of different cultures.
Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat 2025 was also conducted with similar verve and enthusiasm. The grand celebration was a 3-day-long event, and the college campus was decorated to represent the kaleidoscope that is India. In this year’s edition, 17 different states were depicted, showcasing their clothing, food, folklore, and much more.
The first day spotlighted the culinary diversity of India through a cooking competition titled “Apna Khana.” Students formed state-wise teams and prepared their regional specialties. The aroma of authentic home-style cooking wafted through the campus, turning the university into a miniature India.
“Libaas,” was a fashion show that transformed the runway into a timeline of India’s rich textile and costume heritage. Each outfit told a story, reflecting the legacy of craftsmanship and identity.
The spotlight turned to Indian musical heritage with “Apni Boli Apna Raag,” a folk singing competition. Participants performed soulful renditions of regional songs in their native tongues—bringing alive the musical diversity of India. The melodies echoed the spirit of belonging and pride in one's roots.
Complementing the music and fashion was “Hamari Dharohar,” a captivating exhibition featuring handcrafted models and visuals of India’s iconic monuments. From the towering temples of South India to the architectural marvels of North, the exhibit transported viewers through time and across states—sparking admiration and curiosity.
Adding an entrepreneurial twist to the celebrations was “Apna Bazaar,” a student-led market where each state recreated its native shopping experience. Stalls brimmed with local crafts, artefacts, souvenirs, and street foods—offering visitors a multi-sensory exploration of regional marketplaces across India.
“Desh ke Rang, Nritya ke Sang”, the folk dance competition, brought the audience to its feet. The auditorium resonated with applause as students performed captivating routines—from Bhangra and Lavani to Bihu and Garba—each dance narrating tales of festivals, rituals, and daily life from different regions.
Adding a creative, digital dimension to the festivities was the “Prachar Prasar” competition—a reel-making challenge that allowed students to narrate stories of culture, unity, and youth through their camera lenses. With creative backdrops, enthusiastic teams, and a message of unity at their core, these reels showcased India through modern, artistic storytelling.
In the end, “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat 2025” was a movement of unity, inclusivity, and student empowerment. It highlighted how SGT University goes beyond academics to nurture compassionate, culturally-aware, and socially responsible individuals. By creating a microcosm of India on its campus, the university reinforces the idea that while we may belong to different states, languages, and lifestyles, we are—above all—Indians first.
SGT University continues to celebrate India like no other—where diversity is not just acknowledged but truly celebrated.
